Adrian
Boddy, a Fiddler for life, a 1000 tunes played a 1000
times, Adrian has a classical upbringing in violin and
still plays regularlyon the classical circuit. As a
member of Cloudburst and Able Busker bands, playing
mostly for traditional dancing, there is never a musical
dull moment. The love of playing pure fiddle music and
entertaining spurred Adrian to form Celtic Krystal with
Krystal Woodbridge a fellow fiddler and classical violinist.
Having accompanied Robin Campbell at Ceilidhs and Burns
nights this fusion of Folk 'n Fiddles was complete.
Dynamic and exhilarating it is best described. Adrian
lives the true life of a fiddler busking. As the song
says - 'country lanes and byways are always my ways,
never fancied being lumbered.' Pretty much sums up the
man! |

Krystal
Woodbridge also followed a classical upbringing in violin
and still plays regularly with various orchestras in
Hertfordshire. The fiddle tunes be they Scottish, Shetland,
Irish, English or whatever inspire Krystal to also play
regularly with 'Cloudburst' and 'Able Busker' bands.
The love of the traditional and Celtic airs, jigs, and
reels and performing regularly with Adrian in his usual
'hyper active fiddle mode' excites. As a founder member
of Celtic Krystal sharing her name, in part, and bringing
a youthfulness and vitality amidst the two elder statesmen,
Krystal's professionalism exudes in the fusion of Folk
'n Fiddle music. Harmonies are haunting and mysterious
in the rich blend of slow airs like Fiddler's Green
to the emotional yet uplifting Fields of Athenry. She
displays a sensitivity in blending and distilling the
melodic with the harmonic, which rather reflects her
own warm personality. This lass has a bright future
in fiddle music, for others to enjoy. |

Robin
Campbell was born in Glasgow, and had a very traditional
and classical, musical upbringing studying piano, violin,
woodwind, and vocals. The mid - late 60's changed the
beat from the classics to "jeans" and Rock
& Roll playing the drums in several Glasgow bands.
Having lost the 'ability to hear' it was the guitar
that survived the 70's. Robin performed in the highly
successful folk duo 'Lomond Folk' until the untimely
death of his singing partner Donald Brown in 1977.
A solo career then beckoned on the Scottish Tourist
Circuit for eight years before moving South of the border.
In the new millenium, a musical partnership evolved
with fellow musician Andy Hart, forming the rock band
"Solid-Silver". It's great to be still rocking
and having fun in the twilight years. The fun continues
as an new parallel project evolves...
Now embracing his 60s in years, and the music of, Robin
decided it was time to get back to his roots and enjoy
folk music again. Adrian Boddy's invitation to sing
and play with Celtic Krystal, finds folk 'n fiddle at
it's best, with fun, and producing some real Celtic
delights. It was a joy to accept the invite. With a
renewed sense of enthusism after nearly 25 years away
from the folk scene, Robin returns to what he did best
- singing honest songs accompanied by guitar.
Ain't
life strange...its gone the full circle...nearly! |
